Who is the nation’s favourite literary hero?

Published by SarahP on 24 Sep 2009 at 5:00 pm under BookRabbit

Is that a glint of glorious September sunshine I spy as I stick my head up out of the Warren for two minutes? It is! And it’s got some of us all hot and bothered at BookRabbit HQ. We’ve been chatting about our literary heroes and heroines and who’s hot between the sheets pages! We blame that racy lot over at Mills & Boon, they started it with their friends at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, hosting a competition to find out who is the nation’s favourite literary hero?

It’s competition time!

Published by SarahP on 21 Sep 2009 at 11:38 am under BookRabbit

Fancy winning tickets to see Tony Parsons, Irvine Welsh or Gervase Phinn chat about their latest book? If that is a big, bouncing BookRabbit ‘Yes please!’ Then simply shuffle your little fluffy bunny behind over to our homepage – lovingly displayed below – and click on the big pink button.

All we ask is that you invite a friend to join BookRabbit for your chance to win one of 15 pairs of tickets to the Henley Literary Festival, and you could be sitting just feet away, gazing open-mouthed in awe at any one of these three cracking authors.

Winning free stuff. What a nice way to start a Monday…

‘A rollicking piece of tosh…’

Published by SarahP on 17 Sep 2009 at 10:05 pm under BookRabbit

No, cheeky, not a description of what you’re about to read (thanks for that my supportive team) but just a snippet from one of the hundreds of reviews of a book that apparently got released this week by some bloke called Dan Brown?

Apparently, quite famous?

In a bid to beef up his profile – because clearly, he’s struggling – here are 10 things you didn’t know about Dan Brown. In a day dominated by #DanWho? we were big fans of a tweet from @meandmybigmouth:

“Writing a conspiracy murder mystery thriller set in the sinister world of marching bands. I will call it The Lost Cymbal.”

And what kind of crazy fool publisher, you ask, would even so much as attempt to launch a book on the same day as Big Dan? Well, come forward to receive your BookRabbit ‘What were you thinking?!’ Gong… Quirk BooksSense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters does however look far more entertaining than The Lost Symbol so we do see where you got your confidence from. Our review copy is currently being devoured by a speed reader – watch this space.

4 killer features and some cupcakes

Published by SarahP on 02 Sep 2009 at 1:52 pm under BookRabbit

I know, I know… Quentin Tarantino will be on the blower begging for the rights to my book-to-movie title ‘4 killer features and some cupcakes.’ Anyway, until I get the call, the scoop this week at HQ is that Brett has seriously found his mojo and is on fire with his fixes. New features to razzle dazzle you include:

New user cloud – if you’re new to the site and fancy your name up in lights, then get busy. The more you do on the site – write reviews, post discussions, add bookshelves – the BIGGER your name gets on the homepage. Ego-a-go-go!
