Yes, we’re talking to you.

You’ve just finished a book. What do you do? Put it back on the shelf and move on to the next? Ahhh HAH! That’s where you’re wrong. Lots of you have been compelled to write about it and share your thoughts with others. Maybe just a few lines, maybe a review so long it’s nearly crashed our servers. Either way, we’re loving your book reviews at the moment. Here are five favourites…

Rising Sap by AA Gill, review by Rory James Duff: ‘Utter utter bile’. Because we like you to be honest.

The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, review by Penny Cunningham. ‘I have just finished this wonderfully moving book’. Because reviews don’t have to be particularly long or fancy to be good and make us want to read (or not) the book.

Knit One, Kill Two by Maggie Sefton, review by Karen Sykes. ‘First in a mystery knitting series’. Because we love to be surprised by the books you read. A mystery knitting series… seriously?! What’s next? The Crochet Killers? A Stitch in Time Murders Nine?

The Other Hand by Chris Cleave, review by Nicki Golding. ‘This is a truly amazing, heart-wrenching, incredible story’. Because we love a bit of passion!

The Dark Tower by Stephen King, review by Matthew Crossman (Stephen King fan extraordinaire), ‘And so begins one of the greatest journeys ever undertaken in literature.’ Because we value your opinions, whether you’re an expert or not.

So you see, for BookRabbit to thrive, and for you and others to get the best out of it, you need to tell us what you thought of that book. Don’t be shy if you haven’t done one yet. This weekend, just take yourself off and spend five minutes writing five sentences. Then sit back and eat a chocolate Hob Nob* with pride. For you… (drumroll) are a book reviewer! (thunderous applause). See, feels good doesn’t it?

When you’re ready… don’t forget to recommend the book by clicking on the stars underneath it. Here’s a handy guide to dishing them out:

***** Brilliant. Dear Lord why haven’t I heard of this author before? I want to marry them.

**** Excellent stuff. I’ll be recommending this to all my friends.

*** A good read but nothing special, I might read some of their other books.

** Passable (just) I doubt I’ll read anything by this author again.

* Struggled with this and in no hurry to repeat the experience.

No stars. I am speechless. How did this get published?

Happy reviewing BookRabbiters!

The BookRabbit Team

* Ooh Jammie Dodger – good choice. Yes, Custard Creams – we’re getting that vibe too. Maybe even a Cadbury’s Chocolate Finger – but only on a Tuesday.

You see, it’s not just us who think your reviews are sparkly and super… take a look at this forum post from ‘Molescroft’ on the Green Metropolis book site for Matt’s 5 minutes of fame!

    Gosh!
Certainly makes the effort feel worthwhile when someone appreciates the reviews.
Although I say ‘effort’ when in truth it’s not much of an effort at all, more a labour of love.
Dig in people. I can’t think of a better thing I would rather be doing than writing about books we love (or hate, or even just like).
Except perhaps reading in the first place ;-)
Thanks for the heads up Sarah.
