The return of the Rabbit
Hello and welcome back, actually, some of you have never been away (thanks for sticking with us) it’s us who have had a little break. But we’re pleased to say BookRabbit will be re-launching soon, and we’re looking forward to the future with added bounce!
As some of you may have heard, a lot has been happening behind the scenes at BookRabbit, and we’ve been off air while we try and sort things out. We thought first of all it would be useful to set up a Q&A on our blog to answer the most commonly asked questions you’ve been asking, so here are the top 5, but please send us more questions, and comments, if we haven’t covered them here…
1. Where have you been?
Oops! Yes, sorry about that, we just kind of disappeared didn’t we? Well, unfortunately the two companies originally behind BookRabbit – ArgentVive PLC and Retail 8 Limited – faced some difficulties and are now no longer around. On 23 March 2009 ArgentVive PLC went into administration and in April 2009 a resolution was passed to liquidate Retail 8 Limited. The site was effectively put on hold while that was being dealt with and BookRabbit tried to find a new home.
2. Where’s my book?
It’s never nice when businesses go into administration – good people lose their jobs and customers sometimes have hassle getting hold of stuff they’ve ordered. If you were a customer of BookRabbit prior to 21 May 2009 and have not yet received books that you ordered then we recommend you contact the administrators of ArgentVive PLC and the liquidators of Retail 8 Limited, you’ll find their details and more advice here
3. Who runs BookRabbit now?
BookRabbit has been bought by us, Redberry Digital the original company that designed and built the site, (remember Victor Kiam of Remington razors: “I liked the shaver so much, I bought the company!” well, that’s us, kind of, with less of a tan and a bit more hair). So, as you can imagine, after putting a great deal of hard work into lovingly creating BookRabbit, we are really excited about picking up where we left off.
You could even say we’re happy bunnies.
4. When is BookRabbit going to re-launch?
We’re working hard to get the site back online as soon as possible; in the meantime this blog is where you’ll find all the news on our comeback. We’ll be posting regular updates, telling you what’s happening behind the scenes as we all beaver (or should that be burrow?) away at BookRabbit HQ; aka the Warren.
5. How will the ‘new’ BookRabbit differ from the old?
We’ll be making improvements, but essentially the site will continue to focus on the fantastic community (that’s you!) who have remained loyal to BookRabbit and basically made it what it is – a great place for book-lovers to share their thoughts and love of books with others. At the same time, we hope you’ll also be inspired and surprised to discover new books, and people. There will be lots of places for your discussions (and boy do you lot like to rabbit on!) from Richard and Judy (that topic definitely raised some Marmite-esque love/hate) to book cover art, book adaptations, favourite authors, what you’re reading now, what’s in your ‘to be read’ pile, cookery books, sci-fi top tens… you’d better get reading, there’s a lot to talk about!
So there you have it, a few questions answered and possibly lots more raised, so please ask away, or send us your comments, we’d love to hear from you. We’d particularly like to know what you think of BookRabbit and what you did or didn’t like about the previous site?
Bye for now, happy reading!

Good to hear that you are back…..
Nice to have some idea of what happened, good luck for the future.
One question–will all our reviews be there when the site comes back up?
Good to see you back with us BuffySquirrel, and in answer to your question, yes, all the user reviews will be carried over to the new BookRabbit site. I believe you won a BookRabbit badge for the number of reviews you wrote didn’t you? Something in the region of 200? Now, that’s dedication! I hope you’ll be adding to that record when we re-launch soon.
Sarah
Thanks for your kind words Roger, we’re all excited about the future here at the Warren. Stick with us on this blog for more news and updates on the forthcoming re-launch.

Looking good You make it sound like a wonderfully happy Warren – lots of luck and cute fluffy tails for the relaunch!
have heard a lot about this site from a friend so am very pleased to see it is being re-launched after some ‘time off’. Looking forward to hearing some recommendations and views on other books I’ve read, as well as offering my own opinions on books Ive read recently, such as “My mother and wife clearly don’t know me very well, both strongly recommending that I read ‘On Chesil Beach’ which was comfortably the most disappointing book and monumental waste of time I have read in the last 3 years. Nauseating; it’s sole redeeming feature was that it was so short. Thankfully I had a copy of Papillon on hand for afters…now THAT is a good read.”
Thanks for your comments Rory, we’re loving your passion here at the Warren! Let’s see what other readers think…
Thanks Eirwen, we are indeed happy bunnies over here (if slightly stressed!) as we countdown to the re-launch. We look forward to hearing from you again on the site.
Thanks, Sarah. Yeah, I’m quite the opinionated sqrl!
