Val McDermid competition – win a copy of Fever of the Bone

Published by SarahP on 16 Mar 2010 at 10:28 am under BookRabbit

The competition has now closed. Our five lucky winners pulled from the amazing number of entries (our most popular competition yet!) are…

  • Emma Reardon
  • Richard Sutherland
  • Jesse Partington
  • Rebecca Ruff
  • Katie MacKenzie

Congratulations, we will email you all and get your prizes in the post so you can start enjoying Val’s gripping new book asap! Thank you to everyone for entering, and if you haven’t done so already, there’s still time to enter our Ian McEwan competition to win a signed copy of his new book, Solar.

****

International best selling crime writer Val McDermid has sold over two million copies in the UK alone and over 10 million copies worldwide. Fever of the Bone is the sixth novel to feature clinical psychologist Tony Hill and detective chief inspector Carol Jordan and we have five copies of the newly released paperback to give away thanks to the nice folks at Sphere (Little, Brown) and Colman Getty (thanks Caroline!)

The series has enjoyed huge success, including being adapted for the award-winning ITV drama Wire in the Blood. Here’s the blurb on the latest book… In Fever of the Bone Val introduces Tony Hill’s most twisted adversary to date – a killer with a shopping list of victims, a killer unmoved by youth and innocence, a killer driven by the most perverted of desires.

The murder and mutilation of teenager Jennifer Maidment is horrific enough on its own. But it’s not long before Tony realises it’s just the start of a brutal and ruthless campaign that’s targeting an apparently unconnected group of young people. Struggling with the newly-awakened ghosts of his own past and desperate for distraction in his work, Tony battles to find the answers that will give him personal and professional satisfaction in his most testing investigation yet.

If that has given you a taster and you think it’s a book you might enjoy, then enter our competition…

For a chance to win one of five copies, simply leave a comment on the blog and keep everything crossed! We’ll pick our five lucky winners on Monday 22 March at noon. UK entries only for this one – apologies. Good luck and thanks for entering!

I first read Val many years ago, she came highly recommended by my dad who is no longer with us and so sadly missed. The Wire in the Blood series is brilliant and so was the TV adaptations but you really had to read the books to get the full impact of her writing. This novel looks like its going to be another winner.
