If you see me on the morning train and I'm gagging with a look of disgust on my face it's likely I'm reading this.

When the hero with anger management issues started pulling cellulose based parasites from his left testicle with a pair of tweezers I thought I was going to treat my fellow commuters to a redux of last night's dinner. Despite this, or maybe because of this, I'm really enjoying it. I've seen it described as a great airport book in the style of Michael Crichton. If it was, I probably wouldn't bother. I thought Next was dreadful and Prey worse in terms of style and writing skill - Crichton strikes me as an ideas man rather than an author who's happy to write film scripts but can't sketch out interesting characters. IMHO Scott Sigler is a better writer and this is a better book than both Next and Prey by a country mile. Four stars but only because I'm only a few chapters in. |
