Like any new site its got its quirks and occasionally the navigation is occasionally confusing (getting to the 'how tos' should be WAY better signposted imo), but - first impressions - love it. It's clean and the fuctionality is excellent.

I've already mentioned the fact that people aren't linked by book but by versions of the book and I believe that's in hand, and the sooner you can create a virtual bookcase the better!

Creating categories is a little fiddly - and it's all too easy when you are trying to pick multiple books to accidentally stick your esearch in the 'create categroy' field and end up with one you didn't want.

But these are quibbles - all in all great work.

Loving the site. It's so friendly!

That said, I have a few observations :).

Overall, I love the site. It has a nice clean look and navigation is mostly straightforward. I love drawing rectangles around photographs of my books and pointing to them. But...well, it would be nice either to be able to search books we've already added or for the search, when it brings up the results, to note if we've added a particular edition. That way, we'd know we were pointing to the right edition :).

Another thing--when I add a book, I'd love for a screen to come up on which I could add my review and star-rating. As it stands, we're sent back to the book list, and the one we've just added is in there somewhere. It's a tad annoying to have to go look for it again.

It would also be nice if star ratings preserved from when we've just starred the book without reviewing it to when we actually get around to reviewing the book. The stars just disappear!

And finally, it would be lovely if the view of 10, 20 or 50 books was in our cookies, so it didn't have to be reset on every visit. I think at some point easier ways of navigating the book pages will need to be introduced, as some people (like me) may have a lot of books to add. But preserving the view would be a start :).

Well, that's my list of demands!

:D

Oh, btw, I love the "What people are searching for" feature :). Very cool!

as well as my demanding list earlier, i would like to be able to remove a book from the status "currently reading" (or to know how if its already possible).

another vote here for a side or top link to faqs.

some way of browsing through discussions - can they be split up some way so we can look at categories of discussion? I get the feeling there already are categories, but not sure how to navigate them.

also, i know most people on bebo are only 10, but for some reason lots of my friends are there rather than facebook, so access to bebo for mass invites would be useful too. that's all for now. i'll be back :)

I have to be honest - At the moment, I hate the site. It looks great but damn, it's hard to navigate. I am no slouch when it comes to websites but this is proving hard work. It is testament to how much I love the idea and books that I have persevered. Please will someone tell me, how do I start a discussion? How do I add a book review? I'll carry on searching.

On the plus side, the people are friendly and the idea an excellent one.

I agree entirely with Victoria on every point. I just started a discussion, Victoria! But I'm d###d if I can do it again. I've even lost the FAQsYellFrown

Why are FAQs buried so deep? Why not listed right alongside 'Help' or at least at the top of the help list?

I just posted a question which will answer itself since it could equally well be here.

Just one example of how unnatural the site is:- you can't start a discussion from 'my discussions'
