Adapted from the book by Walter Kirn. He wrote this novel in 2001 about Career Transition Counsellor Ryan Bingham and the countdown to his millionth frequent-flyer mile. Nominated for Best PIcture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Directing, Best Actor - George Clooney and Supporting Actress - Anna Kendrick.
The film Precious is based on this debut novel by American author and poet, Sapphire. Written in a stream-of-consciousness style, the novel tells the story of Precious Jones, a pregnant 16-year old who is helped by a school counsellor to escape her abusive home life. Nominated for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Directing, Best Actress - Gabourey Sidibe and Supporting Actress - Mo'Nique.
The adaptation of Alice Seobold's hugely popular book is directed by Peter Jackson and nominated for Supporting Actor - Stanley Tucci.
