Ah. This is a very difficult question imo, as humour is very personal. But I've had great fun recently with "Three Men in a Boat" by Jerome K. Jerome, "To Say Nothing of the Dog" by Connie Willis and "Round Ireland With a Fridge" by Tony Hawks, although the latter became a bit samey halfway through.

I like Malcolm Pryce's Aberystwyth series. I've read the first three and found them really funny.

The best laugh out loud books I've read are the Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, the first book is called 'One for the Money' though this isn't my favourite in the series, they get funnier. These books are basically crime comedy, which are written so well that when I'm reading them it almost feels like I'm watching an American sitcom on TV. I love this series, the only downside is that people tend to stare at you if you start laughing in a public place.

When I want to read something guaranteed to make me laugh I always go to Robert Rankin. He can be relied upon to provide hardly any plot, pointless characters and the most laugh out loud surreal comedy situations you'll ever read. Think "Hitchhikers Guide" meets "Discworld" on the midnight bus to Brentford having had a few too many at the pub. He also has a gift for coming up with fantastic titles, which will keep you tittering for hours.

Although, to be fair - I have never laughed out loud (quite embarrassingly on the bus) so hard, as I did whilst reading "Trainspotting". I honestly thought I might die laughing, as people started to edge away from me on the bus. |

Any of Bill Bryson's travel books work for me.
