I've got two copies of Robert Rankins Website Story. I lent the first to my sister where it disappeared for a few months. In the middle of this I went on a Rankin buying spree and picked up a number of Rankin books I was missing...

Sister returns book, "Oh... I've already got that... do you want to keep it?"... "Na, it's OK, not one of his best." And I agree. I've got a mundane spare Rankin book that noone wants. I've also got the Hitchhikers big special all the books in one book copy as well as a couple of them seperate. Why do we do this to ourselves? Any other silly stories for having duplicates? |

Harry Potter, i have about 5 copies of each, purely because they all started falling to bits :) I also have a thing about second hand books, i don't like them as much as new ones, it's something about the pencilled in price on the first page, so i often buy a new version after i've checked i like the story with the second hand one.

by Kate B on Jan 1, 2009 5:54:18 PM I've got two of Kafka's Metamorphosis, i just grabbed the first one and then i saw another but with loads of other stories init so i had to get that, also i've got several duplictes of Hemingway stories having got the Essential Hemingway and The Snows on that mountain that i cant spell and cant be bothered to look up, i don't want to look to find out exactly how many stories i have at least two copies of, it makes me feel bad; you get a collection of stories cos it has one you really want and then you find out you've already got most of the others but just forgot or didn't see cos ordered online. They all look nice on me shelf tho so i think i'll just leave it at that. Also I used to feel the same bout second hand books, that is until i couldn't get a copy of a book cos it was out of print now i disagree there's something v. special about second hand books with their musty book smell. You know you can rub the pencil out, not like one secondhand book i've got where somebody's underlined everything in ink. Argh! I'm sorry but i don't consider that condition 'Good' but i like the cover, so okay. I underline in pencil much more condiderate tho i've no intention of getting rid of any of my books ever, my aim is tp pile them to the ceiling so the more duplicates the better! X |
