Hi,
Given the growing number of reviewers and discussions we have on the site, we've decided to run a reading group. As this will be our first book, we thought that a debut author would be appropriate, and so we have chosen Poppy Adams' The Behaviour of Moths For a full synopsis and to view Poppy's video see http://www.bookrabbit.com/catalogue/detail/bookid/3226639/The-Behaviour-of-Moths Poppy has been likened to both Ian McEwan and Julie Myerson, and the book was recently selected for the BBC's Book At Bedtime. It has been described as: ' an intricately crafted story, told with just the right balance of claustrophobia and compassion ' - Psychologies ' this is a dark book ... a brilliantly paced debut ' - The Daily Mail We are proposing that we discuss the book on the site from Monday 23rd June. This will run for up to two weeks, depending on how long people want to carry on the discussions for. This should give those of you interested enough time to finish what you are currently reading, and to order a copy of The Behaviour of Moths Don't worry, you don't need to be on the site at any particular time - you can just dip in and out of the discussion as and when you want to. It would be great for us to gauge the interest in the idea, and to know what you think of our choice of book - so please let us know. P.S - We also have some Signed First Editions of this title available http://www.bookrabbit.com/catalogue/detail/bookid/4984144/The-Behaviour-of-Moths-Signed-First-Edition |

I'm already in a bookclub, but would more than happily be part of another. The only comment I would have on the choice of title, is that most of the people in the bookclub I'm in don't want to read hardbacks. I don't know what their reasons are but I guess price would be one. For me, hardbacks arent so easy to squeeze in my bag & read on the train, so i tend to keep away from them.

Looks like an interesting book. Unfortunately, I over-bought on books last month, so I'm on a zero-ration for a while. Sigh.

A bookclub does seem like a good idea but I'm with Sarah in that hardbacks are quite awkward to carry around and price is a factor (especially when you're on a student budget!)

Was there ever a hardback edition of "Jonathan Strange"? I can imagine that being mistaken for a brick. No, make that two bricks.

there was a hardback of Jonathan Strange. its a book i wanted to read, but was always overwhelmed by its size. i think the only way i could tackle that one would be to get the boxed set (0747582092) - the book was split into 3 volumes.

Three volumes sounds good :). I had a lot of difficulty with the paperback--actual pain in my hands from holding the book!

I would be interested in the bookclub, but also agree that paperbacks are better due to the cost - unless you want us all to go the local library instead of buying!!!!!! Just joking of course.

I agree. I'd like to join in but I don't usually buy hardbacks even if they are heavily discounted!
