The Cure for All Diseases by Hulda Clark

    4/5,
"A good book on preventive medicine"
The author, despite her remarkable work in alternative medicine, pop medicine and renegade medicine is not quite popular and many of us may not even know her at all. I say this because when I spoke to a few of my friends about her and the lasting impression she has created through her work, they didn’t seem to know about her at all. She has written about ways to cleanse your system, your kidney, liver and bowel and the means to throw out that powerful parasite from your body so that you...

    The Anxiety and Worry Workbook

    5/5,
    "Do not miss this book"
I am a cognitive behaviour therapist and I have specialized in anxiety disorders and I very often recommend The Anxiety and Worry workbook to my those patients who I think undergo panic attacks, get excessively worried, and have general or social anxiety due to various reasons. This particular book is an advanced version and helpful to those who have already read its basic version or for those patients who have a rough idea what CBT is all about. This book strongly emphasis on cognitive...

The Age of Anxiety Poem by W.H. Auden

    5/5,
"Love the book and its author"
I have been a big fan of poetry and literature ever since I was a teenager. And I had always heard of the book “The Age of Anxiety” from other poetry enthusiasts like me but it wasn’t till last year that I got a chance to read it. As I started reading the book, I realized that it was not a collection of poems as I thought it would be , instead this is a book length poem, aptly called eclogue which is set during the times of World War II. It is more of a drama and less of a poem the way I...

Freeing Your Child From Anxiety by Tamar E. Chansky

    4/5,
"Great book with some very good illustrations"
My son has anxiety issues and I bought this book so that I could help him out. It has come as a boon to both me and my son. This is what I liked about the book: There are illustrations of tactics that makes it easier for me to work through my child. We have already started off doing activities mentioned in this book and my son is really happy that we are doing it. He eagerly looks forward to those activities cum exercises and keeps asking me when he would get to do more. I find that to be...

21 Pounds in 21 Days Martha's Vineyard Diet Detox

    2.5/5,
"too much information is packed into one book"
21 Pounds in 21 Days is a good book and offers some useful insights. But I felt that the author was trying to cram too much stuff into the book. Things could have been more organized. One has to go through pages before one could read the ingredients for the recipes and the directions. It would also have been much better if the author had focused on answering the “why’s” of a reader. For example, why should one drink green tea in the afternoon and how is it going to affect my stomach, etc....

Each Day a New Beginning Daily Meditations for Women by Karen Casey

    2/5,
    "I will take a pass"
Karen Casey’s book is good for addicts and ex-addicts. Period. I read this book once or twice. The book, to be fair, does have some inspirational quotes, but it failed to either inspire me or motivate me. I am happy with old-age methods of getting sober. It has worked fine with me. I think I will take a pass with Each Day a New Beginning.

Emotional Survival For Law Enforcement by Kevin Gilmartin

    4/5,
    "an insightful book"
As a family having a law enforcement officer amongst us, we were not worried about our loved one’s professional life, we were more worried about the personal life and a few years into the job had made our loved one a detached person. We were at our wit's end trying to understand how to deal with the emotional outbursts of our loved one. During this emotional period, I came across this book in the self-help section of my library. Intrigued by the title, I started reading it and got hooked to...

The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook (5th edition) by Edmund Bourne

    5/5,
    "The best Christmas present ever"
This book was gifted to me for Christmas by one of my friends as she thought I was a little anxious about most of the things. When she said I am an anxious person, I didn’t believe her as all that I did out of anxiety seemed pretty normal to me and no one had ever pointed it out to me earlier. It was when I started reading the book, I realized that I did suffer from acute anxiety and many a times the bizarre and awkward reactions I gave in certain situations was all due to anxiety. There is...

The Cure for All Diseases by Hulda Clark

    5/5,
    "Loved it"
This book was a life changer in my case. And I can definitely go on to say that if one is looking for a book on preventive medicine, then this is the perfect one. I found it to be really extreme in certain parts but the important thing is it helped me get rid of my kidney stones. It has amazing remedies listed out for curing cholesterol, diabetes, high BP, Alzheimer’s etc. It is a bible for getting rid of all lifestyle diseases and leading a healthy and happy life.

Overcoming Social Anxiety & Shyness ebook by Gillian Butler

    4/5,
    "Great deal of information"
I have a major problem of social shyness and I bought this book in order to help me overcome it. I started reading it and I found that it is one amazing book and contains a lot of information that is great and useful. The author talks about a full fledged plan that can be adopted to freeze yourself and make you indifferent to social anxiety. I have been following the steps since one month and my condition has definitely improved. So, socially anxious and shy people, if you do not like the...

Power Foods For The Brain by Neal Barnard MD

    5/5,
"Important information explained in simple terms"
Dr. Neal Barnard’s “Power Food for the Brain” is the book to go for if you are looking to have an idea about how food plays a role in keeping our brain sharp. One can summarize the book into five simple steps · Having a good sleep · Having physical activities · Exercises for brain · Eating a healthy and nutritious diet · Avoiding anything that could potentially damage the brain (medications, toxic metals, bad sleep hygiene) It is a simple book and can act...

How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran

    1/5,
    "Book made me cringe"
I hated “How to be a woman” by Caitlin Moran. I do not like memoirs, and this book is touted as one. This book focuses on cheap stuff. I do not bloody care what Moran has to say but she seems to have an opinion on everything, and it is not a good thing. One can look clever till they open their mouth. This is the feeling which I get when I read some of the sections in the book. If there was a book that was written by someone like Hillary Clinton, then I might have been interested. Even if I...

Prevent & Reverse Heart Disease Diet Book by Caldwell Esselstyn

    5/5,
    "Book highlights some inconvenient truths"
I was happy when I got this book. I took this book from the library in the hope that I would gain some insight into the world of coronary artery disease, but after reading the book, I am shit scared. The book highlights how dairy, oil, and meat can play havoc with our body, heart in particular. After reading this book, I have cut down on meat, oils and have started to include a lot of vegetables in my diet. I hope it is not the case of too little too late.

Be The Best You Can Be Book

    5/5,
    "Tugged my heartstrings"
Michael’s book pulled my heartstrings. The book which talks about the journey of a man who fought back against polio is an eye-opener. What I liked the most about the book is that there was no preachiness. Mike talks about his life as if he was narrating a story to his friend. I recommend this book to everyone who wants some push in their life.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle ebook by Tom Venuto

    4/5,
    "Loved this"
I read Burn the fat, feed the muscle as an interlibrary loan after hearing a lot of positive reviews about this book from my friends and family. After liking the book, I went ahead and bought the kindle version. The section which influenced me to buy this book was the one where you could analyze your results. Venuto tells you what it means if you're losing fat and muscle as well as various other jargons. A good book.

Diet for a Small Planet by Frances Moore Lappe

    4/5,
    "A good read"
I read this book a few years back but I thought it was not able to make any lasting impression on my mind. But a few days back when I looked back in time, it a year after reading this book, that I turned into a vegan and now I wonder if it had more of an influence that I thought it had. I would definitely suggest reading this book at least once in your life time. Trust me, it is definitely going to have a great impact on your minds. It might even transform your life but if that doesn’t...

The Biology of Cancer by Weinberg

    5/5,
    "A great book guaranteed"
The author’s name says it all. For those of you who do not know, if you have picked up a book by this author, then you can guarantee that the book will be well-illustrated and have aa well-organized writing. I have also read its first edition which was published in 2006 and found this one to be way different than the previous one. There is an updated version of “Hallmarks of Cancer” which is very interesting to read. A great book, deserves all the stars in the world and I would recommend...

The Easy Way To Stop Smoking Book by Allen Carr

    3/5,
"A successful book with one glaring flaw---repetition"
That The Easy Way to Stop Smoking is a success story is a no-brainer. It undoubtedly has helped many people, probably in millions to kick the habit. Even I have read the book and found some sections that were very interesting. My only issue with this wonderful book is that stuff gets repeated very often. At many places, I felt that the author used it as fillers. If these could have been avoided, then the book could have been more successful and popular.

Cancer Step Outside the Box (6th Edition) by Ty Bollinger

    5/5,
    "Excellent read!"
I am not suffering from cancer but I very much enjoyed reading this book. It has a lot of good information and talks about various preventive methods one can adopt in order to avoid an occurrence and also has great tips on cancer management. I found it to be really useful and interesting to refer to the book in order to live more healthily, holistically and naturally. This book is my constant companion and immediate reference and I would definitely and highly recommend all of you to own a...

21 Pounds in 21 Days Martha's Vineyard Diet Detox

    5/5,
"A valuable book in one’s library"
21 Pounds in 21 Days by Roni DeLuz is a very informative book and an easy read. I have read many diet books, and most of them have some big scientific words and terms that puts me off. This book, though, has nothing of that sort. My primary intention to go through diet book is to see if I can add any new recipes to my diet. This book does have some interesting ones. After reading DeLuz’s book, I was able to get three significant points, which I think are very important to our overall...
